Technical Management
A Shipowner recognizes that a ship only earns money when it is in service. Extended periods of off – hire due to loss of speed, stoppages at sea, port delays, overstay in dry docks, cargo damage, etc… are very expensive indeed. By comparison, costs associated with appropriate planned surveys and preventive maintenance schedules are minimal.
Also taking into consideration the trust of our customer who has placed their valuable asset under our care, our prime duty is to ensure that this valuable asset under no circumstances gets deteriorated and looses its market value.
Hence our strategy is to utilize collective expertise and commitment of our (shore + sea) work force to monitor constantly preventive maintenance schedules, routine maintenance schedules, breakdown maintenance schedules and to ensure that appropriate spares and manpower resources are timely available to meet these schedules so that ships equipments remain operational around the clock.
The other ship’s performance monitoring functions of our technical management team are –
• Operating vessel safely and efficiently
• Monitoring & Upgrading ship’s condition by frequent visits to vessel
• Fuel conservation – scheduling, speed optimization, engine health, care in the choice / supply of fuel monitoring
• Systematical, efficient & economical Materials Management
• Dry dock planning & supervision and reducing time period for completion of drydock
• Budget control
• Certification & Vetting
• Quality Control
In-Service Inspections of Vessels
Our practice for In-service inspections to monitor vessel’s maintenance standard, functioning of quality and safety system, inventory of stores / spares, is three times a year. These visits of Superintendents are far more than flying visits. Superintendents stay on board or if required even sail with ship so that all verifications are completed satisfactorily. Most people are good people, but can do better. Hence the objective of visiting Superintendents is also to motivate staff on - board for positive thinking so that vessel keeps on operating efficiently.
